Why is glute activation important?
Glute activation is much more than building the glutes.
Activation is important because –
- If you are a sedentary person or work a desk based job the the glutes can be very lazy muscles and need firing up before training in order to get the most out of them.
- The Hips are the bodies centre of power. They generate force and stabilise our bodies in a variety of ways, under active glutes will cause a lack of stability.
- Under active glutes can also lead to poor performance and lack of exercise efficiency leading to higher probability of an injury occurring.
- Under active glutes can also lead to problems such as back, knee & hip pain.
Glute activation can be incorporated into your warm up. An adequate warm up should last around 15 minutes – this includes a cardiovascular warm up, mobility and activation.
